let’s cook gourmet
and one-ladle it out to the centre of 10-inch wide white china
and sprinkle over it, with what kind of deliberate carelessness,
whatever sauce in striking colour- black or red or yellow, even green
indulge in this food,
you can understand the poetry on your tongue
when you’ve learnt to mention your name like it’s
lain long enough under the watch of God
to be marinated in all soulful jazzy spice like ɛsoro-wisa and hwentia,
let it take its time when you swallow, let it dance down your throat
and sit sure in your stomach
this knowledge that you’re food gourmet
to be had in bits at a time
and savouring is ordained.
