If Time Could Stand Still

Why does it feel like poems age, and so get better in taste with time?

Oddinary Perspectives

These two poems share the same title. Wrote them today as task for the day on a poets’ page. Enjoy.

If only time could stand still

I’d guage my life

And when joy swells to the zenith

I’d hold my breath

And wish it to be my last

For it would be a pleasant last

Joy unending .

Delight would be the name

That they who knew me would call my bust

But alas

When time does stand still

My last breath

Would be afloat in the world

Kissing all those joyous

And sighing …

It could have been me.

If only time could stand still

I’d host a feast

for all the world’s beauties and beasts

I’d call them to dance

And give each other love’s chance

I’d ask them to see with their hearts

So they wouldn’t see each other’s worn hats
