We’re lonely in the crowd

Our bodies touch

Not that we want them to,

But they do in this crowd

The sweat on my skin belongs to everyone in the room,

And mine settles on theirs too

Our bodies touch

And we shudder because they do

The heat in the room is so cold

And our teeth chatter like the keyboards

in the secretaries’ back office.
